An experienced soloist, Spencer has performed piano and violin concerti with orchestras in the Greater Vancouver area more than twenty times. These include the West Coast Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, Abbotsford Orchestra, Delta Symphony and Neoclassical Symphony. Beyond Canadian orchestras, Spencer has also performed as a soloist with the international orchestras, such as the Tianjin Opera Symphony in China (in 2019) and the Perugia University Symphony (in 2019) in Italy. He was awarded first prize in the 2018 Canadian Music Competition, first prize at the 2021 Bellagrande International Music Competition, the Overall Prize of the 2022 BCRMTA Student Performer’s Guild, and first prize in the 2022 Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival Provincial Excellence category. He was a semifinalist in the 2024 Canadian Chopin Competition.
Spencer has also performed for many internationally acclaimed musicians such as Richard Goode, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Robert Levin, Roberto Plano, Ignat Solzhenitsyn, Ian Jones, and Markus Groh. He frequently attends summer festivals, including PianoTexas, Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Kaufman Summerfest, Music Fest Perugia, etc. His previous principal teachers include Wayne Weng and Nicholas Rada. Spencer is a proud recipient of the BC Arts Council Scholarship, and will be attending the Eastman School of Music this fall to receive his Master of Music degree.
